The Challenge Chapter uses the money we raise to fund conservation projects
throughout the State of Michigan. Two such organizations; the Oakland Land
Conservancy and the Clinton River Watershed Council, use our donations to
complete conservation projects in their areas of focus.
Additionally, the members of the Challenge Chapter complete three conservation
projects per year. These member projects are weekend events in May, June, and July
every year. We focus our efforts primarily on the Au Sable River in northern Michigan,
as well as participating in stream improvement projects in southeast Michigan.
These projects, and the donations we give to other organizations, are funded by classes,
projects and the sale of our books. We offer:
- Beginning and intermediate
fly-tying classes, offered annually
in January through the Birmingham Community Education program.
- Eight Michigan river guides produced by chapter members.
- An emergence schedule of aquatic insects, researched and written
by a chapter member.
